Bromine (Br)

1. Bromine, discovered in 1826 but not prepared until 1860, is the only liquid nonmetallic element. It is a heavy volatile, mobile, and dangerous reddish-brown liquid.

2. Bromine has a strong, unpleasant odor and its vapor causes irritation to the skin and eyes.

3. Bromine is used in the making of water purification compounds, military gasoline, dyes, and sanitizers.

4. Austin Air filters have a high capacity for this substance and will do an effective job removing Bromine from the air.
