Butyraldehyde (C4H8O)

1. Butyraldehyde also known as Butal is of the solution:
Carbon
Hydrogen
Oxygen

2. Butyraldehyde is a colorless liquid with an unpleasant odor.

3. It is stable, but incompatible with oxidizing agents. Also, it is highly flammable and extremely harmful.

4. High exposure to Butyraldehyde may result in the build up of fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema) and cause damage to the eyes/skin.

5. Butyraldehyde is used to manufacture synthetic resins.

6. Straight activated carbon has a limited capacity for Butyraldehyde. The use of an appropriate specially impregnated carbon is recommended.
