2. Sulfur Dioxide is a colorless gas with a pungent odor that is very toxic to humans.

3. Primary source of sulfur dioxide is volcanic activity as well as the combustion of coal and petroleum.

4. Some of the applications that sulfur dioxide is used for are food preservation, fungicide, and in the brewing industry.

5. Inhaling high concentrations of sulfur dioxide may result in temporary breathing impairment, burning of the nose, throat, and even death.

6. Straight activated carbon has a low capacity for Sulfur Dioxide. The use of an appropriate specially impregnated carbon is recommended.
