Marsh Gas (CH4)

1. Also known as Marsh gas, Methane is of the solution:
Carbon
Hydrogen

2. Methane is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic gas that is combustible. It is directly related to the population growth and it is one of the main contributors to the greenhouse effect.

3. Produced by the decomposition of organic matter in the absence of oxygen, Methane is released from swamps, landfills, and the burning of forests.

4. Not only does Methane serve as a natural gas, it helps to release chemicals during coal mining and the production of petroleum.

5. Austin Air filters have a low capacity for this particular substance and the activated carbon cannot be satisfactorily used to remove the Methane under normal circumstances.
