Hydrogen (H)

1. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe that makes up more than 90% of all atoms.

2. This substance is prepared by steam on heated carbon, electrolysis of water, and decomposition of certain hydrocarbons.

3. Hydrogen occurs mainly in combination with oxygen in water, but is also present in organic matter, petroleum, coal, etc.

4. Hydrogen is used in methanol production, hydrocracking, rocket fuel, and reducing metallic ores. Eventually, Hydrogen will serve as a source of electrical power.

5. Austin Air filters have a low capacity for Hydrogen. Activated carbon cannot be satisfactorily used to remove the Hydrogen under normal circumstances.
